Position Title
ENS Network Carrier Infrastructure Engineer Lead
Position Description
This position reports to the ENS Manager of Data Engineering Design
& Planning, National Operations Enterprise Network Services (ENS)
and will be located in Southern California. This high level
engineering position will serve as a technical leader both inside
and to outside organizations. Primary assignments will involve
planning, design, engineering, configuration, of carrier
infrastructure networks. Position Description: Position will be
responsible for planning, design, network analysis, configuration,
and engineering of new MPOE and access facilities for the
enterprise. Work closely with clients, vendors, carriers, and other
technical staff to analyze business and technical requirements.
Develop options, recommendations and associated cost benefits, and
provide engineering design for implementation. Research, evaluate,
and recommend new carrier upgrades technologies for voice, data and
video networks. Assess emerging technologies and make
recommendations to information technology management. Oversee,
certify and assist in implementation and support of the enterprise
wide network.
Job Responsibilities
Be the single point of contact for various data carrier activities
within the Enterprise National Network Infrastructure.
Provide direction to our client's vendors to insure that standards
and service levels are being met.
Coordinate, implement and prioritize service requests for service
area activity. This may require after hour and weekend work.
Provide recommendations to manager for improving existing systems
and identify potential carrier issues for escalation and resolution.
Provide assistance and support to the data and carrier engineering
planning group as required. This may require after hours support.
Work closely with other NOPS organizations to insure smooth delivery
of NOPS services to the customer.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. 8+ years
of experience in planning, designing and implementing new carrier
infrastructure and access points. Past Telco carrier experiences a
must.
Required Skills: Extensive large enterprise WAN environment or
telecommunications company experience. Must have extensive Frame
Relay Switching systems, Carrier Networks and T1 & T3 experience, as
well as experience with ATM, SONET, and new Ethernet WAN services.
Preferred Skills; Experience with WAN and LAN Technologies: ATM,
Frame Relay, T1&T3, DS3, OPT-E MAN, SONET, ISDN, xDSL, SMDS, MPLS,
Cisco Routers and Switches, Routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and
IP and various data protocols; MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL AND WORK AFTER
HOURS AND WEEKEND WORK AS REQUIRED.
